Dr. Daniel Teupser

Biography

Daniel Teupser is the director of the Institute of Laboratory Medicine at the LMU University Hospital, where he leads research and teaching in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics. Under his guidance, the institute has established itself as one of the largest and most efficient in Europe, staffed by around 200 scientific and non-scientific employees. The institute operates laboratories at both the Grosshadern and Innenstadt campuses, providing essential laboratory examinations for the LMU University Hospital's patients round the clock. His primary research interests include atherosclerosis research, biobanking, validation of laboratory medical devices, and clinical mass spectrometry. The institute is committed to high standards of quality, accredited according to DIN EN ISO 15189 for medical laboratory diagnostics, ensuring that it meets the rigorous demands of clinical studies. Professor Teupser is also responsible for the teaching of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, conducting lectures and practical exercises. He oversees approximately 10 million individual analyses annually for all clinics and external clients, utilizing a wide array of modern equipment and methodologies in clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. Professor Teupser brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field, inspiring both students and colleagues in the disciplines of laboratory medicine and clinical research.
