Biography

Daniel Thomas III is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning Culture at Texas A&M University. His scholarship broadly focuses on the intersection of research strands related to anti-Black historical discourse and the contemporary experiences of Black men and boys in secondary education. One strand of his current work explores critical and antiracist practices employed by Black men serving as teacher-coaches. Another examines the encounters and resistance of Black boys against anti-Blackness in predominantly White private Catholic high schools. His work has been featured in several reputable academic journals including the Peabody Journal of Education, Teachers College Record, Theory & Research in Social Education, Urban Education, Educational Studies, and Race Ethnicity and Education.
