Biography

Daniel Tut is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. His research interests lie at the intersection of capital markets and the real economy, with a particular focus on capital structure and corporate governance. His recent working papers examine the effects of stronger creditor rights protection in capital markets, the role of FinTech in combating the Covid-19 pandemic, conflicts among creditors, shareholders, and managers, and the effects of political uncertainty on firms’ real decisions. Daniel has presented his work at top finance conferences including the American Finance Association and the Northern Finance Association. He is currently completing his PhD at the Schulich School of Business and has been recognized twice with the Dean's Letter of Commendation for Teaching Excellence in 2019 and 2020.
