Professor Dr. Daniela Constantinescu

Biography

Daniela Constantinescu is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia and is a registered Professional Engineer. Her research interests encompass robotics, mechatronics, dynamics, and control, with a particular focus on haptics—computer-generated touch technologies aimed at improving rehabilitation and human manipulation performance. Current research topics include guaranteed stable haptic simulation in multibody virtual environments, haptic rendering of both rigid and deformable models, and collaborative haptic manipulation in complex settings. Dr. Constantinescu is also involved in researching virtual constraints for rehabilitation and passivity-based impulsive control in robotic systems. She actively seeks candidates with a strong background in control, dynamics, programming, robotics, real-time simulation, and signal processing for graduate and postdoctoral research opportunities.
