Dr. Daniela Mondini

Biography

Daniela Mondini studied History and Art History at the University of Zurich and La Sapienza University in Rome. She earned her PhD in 2002 and her Habilitation in 2010. Mondini has served as an assistant researcher at the University of Zurich and has taught at the Technische Universität München, Hochschule der Künste Zürich, and ETHZ University of Bern. Currently, she teaches Medieval Art History at the Institute of Italian Studies at Università della Svizzera italiana. Her research focuses on various aspects including the history of architecture and art from the Middle Ages, historiography of medieval art, and the relation of light and architecture. She is involved in project funding from the SNSF for her work on subjects such as Churches in Rome during the Middle Ages and the study of relics and reliquaries. Her competence areas include medieval revivals, contemporary museography, and gender studies.
