Professor Dr. Daniele De Martini

Biography

Daniele De Martini is an Associate Professor at the Oxford Robotics Institute and a Tutorial Fellow in Engineering Science at Keble College, University of Oxford. He co-leads the Mobile Robotics Group, which specializes in the design and development of autonomous systems that integrate robotics and artificial intelligence. His research focuses on creating intelligent robots capable of perception, mapping, localization, and adaptive decision-making by exploiting multiple sensing modalities such as vision, lidar, and radar. His team investigates how robots can effectively navigate and interpret their environment, particularly in challenging conditions ranging from urban settings in Oxford to the rugged Scottish Highlands. A key aspect of his work examines the interaction between robotics and infrastructure, enabling dynamic sharing of sensing and computing resources. This research aims to support safe and scalable robot autonomy in smart environments.
