Dr. Daniëlle Cattel

Biography

Daniëlle Cattel is an Assistant Professor in Health Economics at Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM), Erasmus University Rotterdam. She holds a bachelor's degree in health sciences (cum laude) and a master's degree in health economics, policy, and law. Her research primarily focuses on the design, implementation, and effects of alternative payment models for healthcare providers, as well as risk adjustment in health plan payment and consumer cost-sharing models. Her dissertation, titled ‘How financial incentives in consumer-provider payment are designed to facilitate value in healthcare?’, aims to provide insights into key issues surrounding the design of value-based payment (VBP) incentives for consumers and providers, addressing the associated trade-offs of incentive effects. Daniëlle has contributed significantly to the knowledge base on effective payment system design, offering insights that assist stakeholders in the redesigning of current and future consumer-provider payment models. In her teaching role at ESHPM, she is involved in the bachelor premaster program in health sciences and the master program in health economics, policy, and law.
