Biography

Danielle Coenga-Oliveira is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Montreal. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Feminist Studies from the University of Quebec at Montreal (2024), a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Montreal (2016), and a Master's degree in Social Psychology from the University of Brasília in Brazil (2011). Her research engages in discussions on gender, human rights, heteronormativity, coloniality, necropolitics, and critiques of liberal democracy. Her current research focuses on anti-feminist and anti-gender policies. Utilizing (Afro)feminist, decolonial, and post-structuralist perspectives, she analyzes the relationship between these policies contrary to the expansion of rights for women and LGBTQIA+ individuals and the process of de-democratization in Brazil.
