Biography

Danielle Dagenais is a full professor at the School of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture at the Université de Montréal, Canada. She has a multidisciplinary background in agronomy, environmental engineering, and urban planning. Her research and publications focus on green and blue infrastructures or phytotechnologies for managing urban stormwater and adapting to climate change. Collaborating with various research teams, she approaches these infrastructures from both technical and social perspectives, considering components at multiple scales—from plants, soil, and water to citizen valuation and regional planning. Danielle is also an expert and consultant for municipalities and provincial or federal ministries. In 2019, she received the Henry Teuscher Award from the Montreal Botanical Garden for her significant contributions to horticulture in Quebec. She teaches the only university-level phytotechnology course in Quebec and is a member of the scientific committee for the Novatech 2023 International Conference on sustainable water management strategies. Additionally, she is the founder and director of the new Laboratory on Green and Blue Infrastructures, a research hub dedicated to these systems.
