Biography

D.B. Evenblij is a PhD student specializing in the development and improvement of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS)-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) for children with severe cerebral palsy. Her core research interests encompass multi-voxel pattern analysis, functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), and the application of fNIRS in BCIs. Currently, she is affiliated with the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience at Maastricht University, where she has worked under the supervision of prominent academics including Prof. Bettina Sorger and Dr. Michael Lührs since 2021. She completed her Research Master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University with distinction (cum laude) in 2018, following her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Leiden University in 2016. Throughout her academic journey, Evenblij has actively participated in research conferences, including presenting her work on efficient fMRI-based BCIs at the Real-Time Functional Imaging Neurofeedback Conference in 2019. Her research contributes to advancements in communication technologies for individuals with profound disabilities, improving their quality of life through innovative neurotechnology solutions.
