Biography

Danijel Dzino completed his BA (Hons) at the University of Adelaide from 1997 to 2000, followed by an MA in 2001 and a PhD from 2002 to 2005, specializing in Classics. He has served as a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide from 2006 to 2009 and later joined Macquarie University in 2010 to work on an ARC postdoctoral grant, concluding in 2014. Dzino's research is primarily focused on archaeology and the history of ancient and early medieval Illyricum, which aligns with the geographical regions of the western and central Balkan peninsula. His supervisory work includes PhD and MRes theses on topics such as ancient Liburnia, Roman legionaries in Dalmatia, and early medieval Slavs and Avars. Notably, he has been involved in projects investigating the population trends and cult practices in Roman Dalmatia. He maintains an active collaboration with the Centre for Croatian Studies at Macquarie University, is a co-editor of the Croatian Studies Review, and regularly contributes to academic journals and media in his field.
