Danilo de Jesus is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Queen's University and a staff psychiatrist at Providence Care Hospital. He completed his medical degree at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte in 2003, followed by a residency in psychiatry that he finished in 2007. He obtained a master's degree in the Schizophrenia program from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in 2010. Dr. de Jesus further advanced his training with a clinical fellowship in psychiatry at the University of Toronto in 2014. Prior to joining Queen's University, he worked as an assistant professor and staff psychiatrist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) starting in 2019. In 2020, he became the clinical lead for the acute inpatient unit at Kingston General Hospital. His main areas of research interest include neurophysiology treatments for psychiatric disorders, particularly using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to study cortical inhibition, plasticity, and the pathophysiological mechanisms of schizophrenia, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He has also been involved in research using photobiomodulation (PBM) for treating major depressive disorder.
