Professor Danny Mann grew up in western Manitoba and attended school in Roblin, where he was introduced to the profession of agriculture through his family's farm. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1992, followed by a Master of Science degree in Biosystems Engineering in 1995, and a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering in 1998. He joined the Department of Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba as an Assistant Professor in 1998 and has been promoted to Associate Professor in 2004 and to Professor in 2008. He has held various administrative roles including Associate Head and Acting Head. Danny is a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba and is actively involved in curriculum development at the undergraduate level, particularly in developing the Department's innovative capstone program. He is a member of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering (CSBE) and has served as its President. Danny has received various awards including the CSBE Young Engineer of the Year Award in 2006 and the CSBE/SCGAB Glen Downing Award in 2011 for his exceptional work in power machinery. He was named a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering in 2019 and was one of the inaugural recipients of the Biosystems Engineering Alumni Influence Awards in 2021, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Manitoba.
