Biography

Danya Glabau is an Industry Assistant Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and a medical anthropologist and Science Technology Studies (STS) scholar. Her research focuses on health activism, medical economy, and the commodification of human bodies as data. Glabau directs the STS minor, the Feminism STEM minor, and the Ethics Technology undergraduate curriculum at NYU. She teaches in the Integrated Design & Media Master's program and the Human-Centered Technology, Innovation & Design PhD program. Glabau earned her PhD in STS from Cornell University, where she also obtained her MA and BA. She has authored books including "Food Allergy Advocacy: Parenting Politics Care" (2022) and co-authored "Cyborg" (2024) with Laura Forlano, exploring 21st-century cyborg theory. Her latest research examines how new parents utilize digital resources and apps in modern parenting, while examining the societal implications of these resources.
