Dr. Dara Kelly

Biography

Dara Kelly-Roy is an Associate Professor at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, and a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Economic Well-being. Her research focuses on ethical Indigenous economies, community-engaged research, and ontological diversity in organizational studies. Kelly is part of a small group of Indigenous scholars in Canada and globally, bringing unique perspectives to the field of Indigenous business and management. She has received the Early Career Award from the Confederation University Faculty Associations in British Columbia for her work in exploring Indigenous knowledge systems and their implications for economic issues. Kelly-Roy has spent a decade at the University of Auckland Business School, where she earned both her master's and doctoral degrees, with her PhD thesis examining Coast Salish philosophy regarding wealth and reciprocity. She is actively involved in the Advisory Committee for the Association of Economic Research Indigenous Peoples and serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development. Kelly's commitment to Indigenous-led research emphasizes the importance of ancestral knowledge and the historical context of Indigenous economies.
