Biography

Daragh Byrne explores design, experiential media systems, process-oriented methods, human-centered exploration, and emerging technologies. His teaching and research reflect his interest in the current focus on the Internet of Things and tangible interaction design. At Carnegie Mellon University, he holds the title of Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Architecture and is part of the Integrated Innovation Institute. Previously, he was an Assistant Research Professor at Arizona State University’s School of Arts, Media Engineering, where he managed the NSF Funded XSEAD project. Byrne led a partnership with the CMU Alliance for Arts Research Universities (a2ru) to extend the project and deliver a new online platform for arts-integrative scholarship. He also leads the launched MakeSchools.org effort, which aims to catalog Making in higher education.
