Biography

Darcy MacPherson became a full professor at Robson Hall Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in March 2017, having taught at the Faculty since July 2002. Prior to this role, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor from 2001 to 2002. His professional journey includes working as a student-at-law and associate lawyer with Tory, DesLauriers, and Binnington (now Torys LLP) between 1997 and 2000. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1997, and a Master of Laws with first-class honours from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2001, specializing in Commercial Law. MacPherson currently holds the position of Research Director at the Marcel Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise Law and has been the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Manitoba Law Journal. He is actively involved in the academic community, having served as an elected Senator at the University of Manitoba Senate and as a faculty advisor for various moot competitions. His research interests include disability rights, corporate criminal liability, and administrative law. MacPherson is also recognized for his contributions to disability studies as President of the Canadian Centre for Disability Studies and has chaired multiple committees focused on governance and inclusion in education.
