Dr. Darek Haftor

Biography

Darek M. Haftor is a full professor of information systems at Uppsala University, a position he has held since 2019. His expertise lies in utilizing digital technologies to create economic value, enhance productivity, and develop new digital business models. With a substantial academic background in statistics, computer information systems, psychology, sociology, economics, industrial organization, law, and philosophy, Darek has engaged with various universities worldwide. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in information systems from Mid-Sweden University, a licentiate in information systems from Luleå University of Technology, and a PhD in industrial organization from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Before returning to academia, he spent over a decade in industry and public sector roles, focusing on operations management and strategic business development. Darek's previous positions include associate professor at Stockholm Business School and full professor at Linnaeus University, where he directed a research program on digital business productivity. His research highlights the complex relationship between digital technologies and economic value creation, and he has published over 100 scholarly works, contributing to conferences and journals internationally.
