Dr. Darian Meacham

Biography

Darian Meacham is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at Maastricht University and serves as the Chair of the Philosophy Department. He is a Principal Investigator at the BISS Institute. Meacham studied at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he received his BA, and subsequently earned his MA and PhD from the University of Leuven, Belgium. His research primarily focuses on the intricate relationships between technology, politics, and human interaction, delving into how these elements shape our understanding of the world. Meacham is particularly interested in the ethical and political aspects raised by emerging technologies and the concept of Europe and its post-national political institutions. His key areas of expertise include Political Philosophy, Phenomenology, Responsible Research Innovation, and Bioethics, especially concerning human enhancement. He is actively involved in European Union Horizon research projects, contributing to the dialogue on responsible innovation in research and technology.
