Dr. Darian Meacham

Biography

Darian Meacham is a Professor of Practical Philosophy and the Chair of the Philosophy Department at Maastricht University. He is also the Principal Investigator at the BISS Institute, where his research focuses on the ethical implications of technology and innovation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Leuven in Belgium. His main teaching and research interests include political philosophy, phenomenology, and bioethics. He examines the political and ethical issues arising from new technologies and engages with questions surrounding the concept of Europe and post-national political institutions. At a fundamental level, he is interested in the relationship between sense and nature. Meacham's work extends to European Union Horizon research projects, where he explores responsible research innovation and human enhancement within the context of technology. His expertise also encompasses the intersection of philosophy and technology, contributing to discussions on how these fields shape our understanding of the world and influence political practices.
