Biography

Darin Stockdill is an Instructional Program Design Coordinator at the University of Michigan’s Marsal Family School of Education, where he partners with educational organizations, teachers, and students to design innovative learning experiences. With over 25 years in the education field, his journey began as a teacher’s aide in preschool. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in history and later taught adult literacy in Chicago before returning to Michigan to work with Detroit youth. He has 10 years of experience teaching middle and high school social studies and English in Detroit. Motivated by his experiences, he pursued a doctoral degree in Education Studies focusing on Literacy, Language, and Culture. His research has centered on adolescent disciplinary literacy, and he has worked as a consultant for literacy and social studies initiatives. Since completing his doctorate in 2011, he has been a staff member at the School of Education, collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students on various projects and grants, particularly in areas related to social justice and design thinking.
