Biography

Darin Weinberg is a Professor of Sociology at King's College, University of Cambridge. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Communications from the University of California, San Diego in 1984, followed by a Master of Science in Social Philosophy from the London School of Economics in 1985. He completed his PhD in Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1998. Weinberg has previously taught at the University of Florida and joined the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge as a University Lecturer in 2000. He has been a Reader in the Department of Sociology since 2012. His research interests include Ethnomethodology, Addiction, Diagnosis, Social Constructionism, the Sociology of Health and Illness, and the Sociology of Science. He has received several accolades, including the Melvin Pollner Prize for his contributions to the field of Ethnomethodology and the Outstanding Article Award from the American Sociological Association’s Section on Theory. He has actively participated in research initiatives related to addiction and social dynamics and has presented lectures on these subjects.
