Dr. Dario Krpan

Biography

Dario Krpan is an Associate Professor of Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science, specializing in understanding transformative behavioural change in the context of sustainability and new technology. Trained in social cognitive psychology at Webster University Vienna and holding an MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge, Dario applies a multidisciplinary approach to research, combining methodologies from various fields including economics, physics, and psychology. His work focuses on the necessity of transformative behavioural change, wherein a significant shift in behaviour is required to address critical global challenges, such as climate change. Dario argues that distinct combinations of sustainability and technology are crucial, as technological developments can both positively and negatively influence societal sustainability. Moreover, he is a proponent of using quantitative methods and machine learning to explore these complex topics. Dario is also involved in several initiatives, including the AI Future Work and Growth Governance Hubs and LSE's Post-Growth Transformation Lab. His recent work has highlighted the public’s support for degrowth policies aimed at reducing harmful production and prioritizing well-being, reflecting his commitment to impactful research in behavioural science and sustainability.
