Biography

Darrell H. Miller is the Harry N. Wyatt Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School. His scholarship focuses on civil rights, constitutional law, civil procedure, state and local government law, and legal history. He has published extensively in leading law reviews including the Yale Law Journal, University of Chicago Law Review, and Columbia Law Review, with his work being cited by various courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. Before joining the University of Chicago Law faculty in 2024, Miller was a faculty member at Duke University, where he co-founded the Duke Center for Firearms Law. He also served as an Associate Dean at Duke and as a visiting professor at several institutions, including the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He holds a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School and degrees from Oxford University, where he studied as a Marshall Scholar, complementing his BA summa cum laude from Anderson University. In addition to his academic work, Miller has written opinion pieces for prominent outlets such as the Washington Post and New York Slate.
