Biography

Professor Darren Crowdy has held the Chair in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London since 1999. His research interests center on the application of complex analysis methods to problems arising in the physical sciences and applied mathematics, with a special focus on fluid dynamics. Throughout his career, Crowdy has contributed significantly to the field, serving as an Established Career Fellow of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and holding the prestigious Wolfson Research Merit Fellowship from the Royal Society. He has also been a Visiting Professor at renowned institutions such as MIT, the California Institute of Technology, UC San Diego, and the University of Kyoto. Professor Crowdy's research group, the Applied Computational Complex Analysis (ACCA) Group, addresses complex mathematical problems, and his work includes the publication of the monograph 'Solving Problems in Multiply Connected Domains' by SIAM in April 2020, along with freely available computational codes. He continues to be an active contributor to the academic community and remains engaged in research efforts that bridge mathematics and physical science applications.
