Darren Graham is a Reader in the Accelerator Physics Group at the University of Manchester, with a focus on terahertz physics and ultrafast laser-based terahertz radiation sources. He obtained an MPhys(Hons) degree in Physics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 2001, followed by a Ph.D. in 2005, investigating optical studies of III-Nitride quantum structures. His postdoctoral work at STFC Daresbury Laboratory involved time-resolved x-ray photoemission spectroscopy under the supervision of Prof. Wendy Flavell. Dr. Graham was awarded a prestigious EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowship in 2011, which enabled him to establish ultrafast time-resolved terahertz spectroscopic techniques. His research also probes fundamental properties of materials and intends to manipulate electron beams to shrink the size of particle accelerators. He has supervised 9 PhD students and is currently working with an additional 6, contributing to advancements in his fields of expertise including terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and ultrafast lasers.
