Biography

Daryl Hepting is a Professor at the University of Regina, specializing in the development of tools to help individuals navigate complex information spaces. His research encompasses a diverse range of application areas, including environmental decision support, eyewitness identification, multimedia composition, and healthcare. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada, in 1999, with a dissertation titled “A New Paradigm Exploration Computer-Aided Visualization.” Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked on Benoit Mandelbrot's Fractals project at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Centre and Yale University. Hepting is dedicated to outreach and education, and he is an active member of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) as a senior member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He also serves as Canada’s representative to the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Technical Committee 3, focusing on Education.
