Biography

Daryl Kerr is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Western University. He was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, and earned his medical degree from St. George’s University, Grenada. Dr. Kerr completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, where he was elected Chief Resident in his final year. He furthered his expertise through subspecialty fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Duke University from 2021 to 2022. He has achieved certification from the National Board of Echocardiography, being a diplomate in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. His research focuses on RV dysfunction in cardiac surgery, mechanical circulatory support for heart transplant recipients, and strategies for improving cardiac surgery outcomes, including opiate-sparing anesthesia techniques.
