Dave Barlow is a Reader in the Department of Pharmacy at King's College London, specializing in Computational and Molecular Biophysics. His research in recent years has been primarily focused on structural computational studies of drugs and drug gene delivery systems. His work includes detailed characterization of molecular architectures, membrane interactions, and the development of novel software for modeling biological membrane structure. Additionally, he has pursued the development of expert systems for drug discovery and modeling drug delivery systems. Dave Barlow completed his BSc in Biochemistry at University College London in 1975 and spent 6 years teaching Biology and Chemistry at a secondary school in the West Midlands. He later attended Birkbeck College, London part-time, completing an MSc in Bio-molecular Organisation. Returning to London, he studied full-time for his PhD under the supervision of Janet Thornton in the Crystallography Department at Birkbeck College, graduating in 1984. Following a brief postdoctoral stint with Janet Thornton, he took up a position as New Blood Lecturer in Molecular Graphics & Drug Design in the Pharmacology and Pharmacy Departments at King's College London, where he has remained ever since. His exemplary contributions to the field have established him as a prominent researcher in non-equilibrium science.
