Biography

Dave Cash is a Professorial Research Fellow focusing on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 1997 and later completed both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 2000 and 2004 respectively. His PhD research involved the development of image-guided surgery systems aimed at liver tumor resections. Following his academic training, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London (UCL) in the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) in 2005. Cash then transitioned to the private sector with a UCL-based startup IXICO Ltd., where he managed imaging in several large-scale studies and clinical trials related to Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s diseases. He returned to UCL in 2011, where he has held a joint position at the Dementia Research Centre and CMIC, focusing on the advancement of imaging biomarkers and other technological aids in understanding and treating neurodegenerative diseases.
