Biography

Dave Gould has spent 25 years working with BHP in Perth, beginning his career as a process technician at the Kwiana Nickel Refinery. He later transitioned into an information processing role, initially serving as a metallurgical accountant and then as an information systems officer, eventually advancing to systems analyst. During his tenure, he developed a deep appreciation for the interdependencies within Manufacturing Execution Systems that are pivotal in the mining and processing industries. Currently, he holds a position as Principal Systems at Iron Ore's Integrated Production Remote Operations center. Gould also returned to academia to pursue a PhD in Software Engineering while balancing his studies with part-time work, focusing on technical debt within interdependent information systems, especially as they pertain to supply chains in large-scale mining companies. His expertise aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals established in 2015, which address significant global challenges including poverty and environmental sustainability.
