Dr. Dave Mumby

Biography

Dave Mumby is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Concordia University, where he has been a faculty member since 1994. He received his Ph.D. in Biopsychology from the University of British Columbia in 1992. Following his doctoral work, he completed a postdoctoral research position in Dr. Robert Sutherland's laboratory at the University of New Mexico. His research primarily focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying memory and cognitive processes in animal models, particularly the effects of lesions in specific brain regions on memory performance. Professor Mumby's work integrates aspects of ethology, neurobiology, and cognitive psychology, emphasizing the behavioral implications of neurobiological findings. He actively teaches senior-level courses in animal behavior, evolutionary perspectives on learning and memory, and neurobiology of learning and memory. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he is involved in supervising graduate students and contributes to various academic committees within Concordia University. His extensive publication record showcases numerous studies investigating the interplay between memory systems and behavioral outcomes, particularly in the context of hippocampal function and object recognition tasks.
