Biography

David H. Albonesi is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University. He joined the Computer Systems Laboratory in 2004 after spending ten years in the computer industry as a technical manager, lead architect, and chip designer. With over 20 years of experience, his primary research focus is on power-efficient computer architecture. He has made significant contributions in areas such as scalable power management algorithms, dynamically adaptive computer architectures, and accelerator architectures for deep neural networks. His work also includes dynamic power management for General-Purpose Graphics Processing Units (GPGPUs) and architectures for enhancing human-computer interaction, alongside applications for energy-efficient smart buildings. Albonesi has co-chaired several important international symposia, including the 42nd International Symposium on Microarchitecture, and has served on the editorial board of the IEEE Computer magazine. He is a fellow of the IEEE and has received various awards including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and multiple IEEE Micro Top Picks Awards.
