Biography

David T. Allen earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1983. He served on the engineering faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles for 12 years before joining the College of Engineering faculty at the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. Currently, he is the director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources at UT Austin. Allen is a lead investigator on the Texas Air Quality Study, which is one of the largest air quality studies ever undertaken. His research focuses on utilizing the findings from this study to provide a scientifically sound basis for air quality management in Texas. Additionally, he is involved in developing environmental educational materials for engineering curricula and disseminating these materials worldwide. Throughout his career, he has received several accolades, including the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator award in 1986.
