Biography

David C. Anthony has spent his entire academic career in Family Medicine, working at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. After completing his residency and an Academic Family Medicine Fellowship at Boston University, he became a member of the faculty, serving as Director of Medical Student Education since 2010 and currently overseeing clerkship activities and faculty development. Dr. Anthony also plays a significant role at the national level, acting as Academic Director of Curriculum for Aquifer, an organization developing virtual teaching tools for health professions education. His academic interests focus on evidence-based applications in clinical practice, particularly in hospital discharge quality and the use of digital media in medical education. Over the years, he has been awarded multiple teaching honors, including the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. His research pursuits include patient safety and statistical methods in primary care, as well as investigating ways to communicate patient risk and improve discharge processes through innovative methods funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Dr. Anthony is actively advancing his research career, particularly in how population data can predict individual patient outcomes, including the risk of developing diabetes.
