Biography

David Balaam is a Lecturer at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. With 31 years of teaching experience at the University of Puget Sound, he is a Professor Emeritus in International Political Economy and Political Science. His research interests include International Political Economy, Security Studies, Trade Finance, and U.S. Foreign Policy. Balaam has co-authored and co-edited the textbook 'Introduction to International Political Economy,' published by Routledge in its 6th edition in 2007. He has also served as a Fulbright fellow at the University of Bologna in Italy and has directed the University of Washington study abroad program in Rome from 2013 to 2016. Currently, he is affiliated with the Jackson School and teaches various courses related to his fields of expertise.
