Biography

David Barrera is an associate professor in the School of Computer Science at Carleton University. He has extensive experience in the field of network security, having previously served as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer and Software Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. His research includes a focus on security related to environmental sustainability, computer networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He has also held positions as a visiting researcher at IBM Research in Zürich and as a postdoctoral researcher in the Network Security Group at ETH Zürich. Barrera earned his Ph.D. from Carleton University in 2014. Currently, he leads the Carleton Internet Security Lab (CISL), where he investigates innovative security solutions for current and emerging technologies.
