Biography

David Beiser, MD, is a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He specializes in emergency care clinical trials, clinical informatics, and medical education. Dr. Beiser directs the University of Chicago’s Emergency Trials Unit (ETU), which supports multi-center studies focused on cardiac arrest, traumatic brain injury, and hemorrhagic shock. He is a Principal Investigator for the NIH-funded Mid-America CTSA Consortium (MACC), which operates as a six-institution network conducting large-scale emergency care trials. As faculty in the Clinical Informatics Fellowship, Dr. Beiser integrates informatics into acute care research, focusing on the development of computer adaptive screening diagnostic tools and digital health interventions. His work utilizes machine-learning approaches to analyze physiologic signals and enhance real-time decision-making. In addition to these roles, Dr. Beiser serves as the course director for the Phase Cell & Organ Physiology course at the Pritzker School of Medicine and chairs the institution’s Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education Task Force.
