Biography

David Beiser, MD, MS, is a professor at the University of Chicago, specializing in emergency medicine. His work focuses on acute care clinical trials, clinical informatics, and medical education. He directs the University of Chicago’s Emergency Trials Unit (ETU), which supports multi-center studies in cardiac arrest, traumatic brain injury, and hemorrhagic shock. As Principal Investigator for the NIH-funded Mid-America CTSA Consortium (MACC) SIREN Regional Clinical Center, he leads large-scale emergency care trials. Dr. Beiser is board-certified in Clinical Informatics and is a core faculty member of the University of Chicago Clinical Informatics Fellowship. His research integrates informatics into acute care while developing computer adaptive screening diagnostic tools and digital health interventions that utilize machine learning to analyze physiological signals, patient audio-video data, and clinical documentation for real-time decision-making. He serves as course director for the Phase Cell & Organ Physiology course at the Pritzker School of Medicine and chairs the institution’s Artificial Intelligence Medical Education Task Force.
