Dr. David Blaazer

Biography

David Blaazer is a historian specializing in modern Britain and Ireland. His early research focused on the non-communist left in Britain, culminating in the publication of 'Popular Front Progressive Tradition: Socialists, Liberals, and the Quest for Unity, 1884-1939' (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1992). He has contributed numerous articles on the history of Guild Socialism, and has published works examining the Northern Ireland conflict and the historiography of globalization. His recent investigations address the history of money in Britain and Ireland, with his latest book, 'Forging Nations: Currency, Nationality, and Power in Britain and Ireland, 1603-1931,' released by Oxford University Press in July 2023. He is currently working on the rise and fall of Social Democracy in the UK, particularly focusing on monetary ideas and financial markets.
