Biography

David Bluemke, MD, MSB, PhD, joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in July 2017 as a Professor. He specializes in Cardiovascular Imaging, having previously served as the radiologist-in-chief at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center and a tenured senior investigator at the NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. He also held a position as an adjunct senior investigator at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Before his tenure at UW-Madison, Bluemke was a Professor of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is originally from Brookfield, WI, and completed his medical degree and PhD in Biophysics at the University of Chicago. Bluemke has authored over 800 publications in the field of diagnostic radiology with a focus on cardiovascular disease. He served as the Editor Emeritus of the journal Radiology, significantly contributing to his field.
