Biography

David Bogle studied Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, where he received his undergraduate degree in Engineering in 1978 and a Master's in Science in 1979, followed by a PhD in 1983. He worked on modelling and control projects for British Gas before taking a lecturer position at the University of Adelaide from 1986 to 1990. He joined University College London (UCL) as a lecturer in 1990, was appointed as a Professor in 2000, and took on the role of Head of the UCL Graduate School in 2005. Bogle was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2005 and served as Technical Programme Director for the World Congress of Chemical Engineering, where he was awarded the IChemE Council medal. He received the Villermaux Medal from the European Federation of Chemical Engineers in 2023. Bogle served as the President of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) during 2022-2023 and was the Scientific Vice President of the EFCE from 2018 to 2021. He retired from UCL in September 2024 and was appointed Emeritus Professor.
