Biography

David Brock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Carleton University. He completed his Ph.D. at McMaster University and has held positions at the University of Western Ontario as an Assistant Professor (Teaching Professor) from 2016-2020, and previously at McMaster University. David has extensive experience in Chemical Education, focusing on innovative teaching methods including blended learning and flipped classrooms, as well as the incorporation of learning technologies into his courses. He teaches a variety of chemistry courses, such as CHEM 1001, CHEM 1002, and CHEM 2203 among others. David has received numerous teaching awards, including nominations for the Western University Students’ Council Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the MSU Teaching Award at McMaster University. He is actively involved in research related to Chemical Education, aiming to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes in the field of chemistry. Brock has also contributed to several publications, discussing topics such as noble-gas chemistry and coordination compounds.
