Biography

David B. Brown is the Snow Family Business Professor at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and the Faculty Director of the Center for Energy, Development, and Global Environment (EDGE). His research predominantly revolves around designing and analyzing algorithms for decision problems that involve uncertainty and complex tradeoffs. His recent investigations have focused on developing solution techniques for network revenue management, dynamic pricing in shared vehicle systems, stochastic scheduling, and sequential search problems. He serves as the Area Editor for Decision Analysis in the journal Operations Research, published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Throughout his tenure at Fuqua, he has taught courses including Decision Models, Data Analytics Applications, Probability and Statistics, and Convex Optimization, earning multiple teaching awards in the process. Professor Brown holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
