Biography

David Cardwell is a Professor of Superconducting Engineering and serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Planning at the University of Cambridge. He has significantly contributed to the field of superconductivity through his leadership of the Bulk Superconductivity Group, which focuses on the processing and applications of bulk high-temperature superconductors used to generate high magnetic fields. David has authored over 330 technical papers and holds several patents. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Physics, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. His academic journey includes a BSc from the University of Warwick, a PhD from Warwick, a MA from the University of Cambridge, and multiple honorary degrees from both universities.
