Biography

David L. Chambers is the Wade H. McCree Jr. Collegiate Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan Law School. He practiced law in Washington and served on the staff of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders. Chambers is an author known for his empirical inquiry into the enforcement of child support and has noted work regarding the differing experiences of men and women within the law profession, as well as issues related to AIDS, child custody, and same-sex marriage. He has served as president of the Society of American Law Teachers and co-chaired the Task Force on Diversity for the Law Schools Association of American Law Schools. After beginning his academic career at Michigan in 1969, he retired in 2003 to pursue writing fiction, winning the 2009 Miami University Press Novella Contest with his novel, Old Whitaker Place, published in June 2010.
