Biography

David Churchill started teaching at the University of Manitoba in 2001. He served as the director of the University of Manitoba Institute of the Humanities from 2007 to 2012. He was a David Rockefeller Foundation Humanities Fellow, focusing on the Study of Sexuality, Gender, Health, and Human Rights at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health from 2004 to 2005. Churchill coordinated the Manitoba Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit Queer (LGBTTQ) Archival Oral History Initiative from 2010 to 2012. He has published extensively in journals such as the Canadian Historical Review, Journal of the History of Sexuality, and GLQ: Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies, among others. Additionally, he co-edited books including 'Material World History' (Routledge, 2015) and 'Sites of Production: Film, History, and Cultural Citizenship' (Routledge, 2007). Active in Winnipeg's art community, he serves as an art writer, reviewer, video maker, and occasional curator.
