Biography

David W. Collum, MSP, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington with an emphasis on immunobiology and virology. He received a Master of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Florida, with a focus on pharmaceutical outcomes policy. Throughout his career, he has shaped the education of undergraduate students in immunobiology and cell biology. He pursued a post-graduate degree due to his interest in the areas of bioethics and Medicare fraud, including a course titled Pharmacy Crime. Since joining the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of the Pacific in 2013, he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor and as the Chair of the AmerisourceBergen/Good Neighbor Pharmacy Entrepreneurial Pharmacy Practice Program, which is significantly funded by alumni. Professor Collum's career has been focused on pharmacy policy, regulation, and education, developing and strengthening pharmaceutical purchasing and dispensing policies and practices. He previously taught at the University of Florida School of Pharmacy, concentrating on pharmacy policy regulation and assisting in courses related to Medicaid/Medicare Fraud Abuse, Bioethics, and Pharmaceutical Distribution. His entrepreneurial initiatives have included innovative programs for community pharmacies and improving patient outcomes.
