Biography

David W. Conklin is a retired professor of business, economics, and public policy at the Ivey Business School. His courses focus on the ways economic, political, social, and technological forces differ across countries and how these forces influence business decision-making. Conklin has taught in the Economics and Political Science Departments at Western University and has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Social Science Department. Before joining Ivey Business School, he worked for various universities, research institutes, the civil service, and small businesses, as well as participating in government task forces and royal commissions. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Conklin's research focuses on the interface between corporations and public policies, including work for governments related to the design and enforcement of legislation and regulations. He has published over 50 articles and edited 30 books throughout his career and served as the Director of both the Western University Office for the Institute of Research on Public Policy and the Centre for American Studies.
