David Peter Cormode is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the development of novel multifunctional nanoparticle contrast agents for medical imaging applications. One of his major areas of interest includes the development of gold and bismuth nanoparticles as contrast agents for computed tomography (CT). These nanoparticles are further modified to exhibit a variety of additional functional properties such as fluorescence, MRI contrast, and therapeutic effects. Cormode is also interested in new imaging methods based on computed tomography, dual energy CT, spectral CT, and iterative image reconstruction. His work is aimed at enhancing the characterization of cardiovascular diseases and cancers, which in turn allows for improved selection of therapies and monitoring of treatment responses. Cormode actively encourages undergraduates, master’s students, and postdoctoral fellows to contact him if they are interested in working in his lab.
Wharton Doctoral programs cover fields like Finance, Marketing, Management, and Operations, Information and Decisions.
